High Sierra Display Port Graphics problem

Hi

Running iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011) - 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 - 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 - AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2 GB

with an external Philips 32" Screen connected via display port.

This has been a great setup upto now with no issues. Since upgrading to high sierra the graphics on the external screen are delayed - its hard to explain. If I play ioquake3 for example they stutter and buffer quite badly. Via the imac screen they are perfect. This never happened until the high sierra update.

I'm not sure of any settings I can tweak - any help out there?
