LG Ultrafine 5K flickering issue fixed

Hello fellow Apple users!

I recently purchased an LG Ultrafine 5K to go along my 15" MacBook Pro (Late 2016) It worked like a charm on the 1st day but I was hit with a mysterious flickering issue (completely random, both the MacBook Pro and the monitor would flicker and lose connectivity) after moving the monitor to its final location on my desk.

I called Apple Support (Case # 100114115383) and we tried to troubleshoot the issue (resetting the SMC and NVRAM on the MacBook Pro) without any luck!

The day after I move the monitor to another desk in my office and never had the problem again. I discovered that the LG Ultrafine 5K didn't enjoy at all being too close (between 24" and 48") to my Time Capsule (also sitting on my desk)

I also called LG (Case #CNN170116163909) to report the issue (they had no internal KB related to that problem) and would suggest anyone having similar problems do the same.

I have the same issue! I got lucky to find this page. I would have never guessed this to be true, but it is! So weird! I have a Time Capsule as well. Had to move it further away from the LG 5k monitor.

Wow.  Thanks so much for this post.

Was very frustrated at the issues I had between new MacBook Pro 15" and LG 5K flickering.

Updated to Mac OS 10.12.3 and moved Xfinity Box/Wifi Router away from setup and everything is running great.

Was only 2' away from setup, now router is 10' away - NO Flickering!

Great observation. Love this setup now.
