New MacBook Pro late 2016 15 inches trackpad ra...
Hi all,
I just received the new rMBP 15 inch, and I noticed there is wired rattling sounds when click the trackpad.
It seems to be some parts is vibrating when clicked.
On my old 13 inch with force touch, I didn't hear the rattling so I'm curious if it is because the trackpad is too big or I received a defective one.
Thank you all!
The new MacBook uses force touch with a Taptic Engine that simulates a click when you push on the pressure sensitive pad. Try pushing with the power off and you should feel nothing then with power on and you will get the feedback from the Taptic engine. I don't notice a rattling sound with mine I just get the sensation of the click. Try going onto settings, trackpad and adjusting the click pressure see if it changes or helps. If not I would go to an Apple Store and try another machine and check for the noise. It might be defective at which point you can contact Apple support.
Hi,
I think the sound is more like the keyboard is shaking or some mechanism is moving will the tapic engine is active? If you hear closely will you able to hear some weird noise? 'Not the click sound but the sound that follows it
I too have started to get the tinny rattle just today on 2016 15.4 Touchbar MBP. I also don't think my haptic feedback is working any more. As luck would have it, I am off to my French house first thing on Monday, so no time to get it repaired in the UK. Still I have Applecare, so can get it mended in France.
This is different than the Taptic feedback. I'm having the issue too. When tapping a finger on trackpad it sounds like something loose. It didn't do that for me during 1st 2 months, now mine does it with every delicate finger tap. It is distracting sound, and makes me wonder what is now loose inside
Is this what it sounds like for you? This is a recording I just made with my phone of the rattle my MacBookPro 2016 is now making. Not just from tapping the trackpad, but also if tap the deck, or even the keys close to the trackpad. Link to audio
I have the exact same issue. The touchbar seems to work properly, but the noise is annoying.
Its like a metallic rattling sound.
im pretty sure its the touch pad component (which if i not wrong, is a modular component that can be replaced).
