My iphone is not showing up as a device in itun...

I have tried restarting my computer and my iphone but this didn't help. My phone is connecting to the computer and it is showing up in my computer but it will not show up in itunes. I'm not sure what else to do. Please help.

Try that

I have the same problem. Didn't work for me. Tried everything I've been able to find since December. Crappy update. This is unacceptable.

Might be a good idea to tear down iTunes and rebuild it as described here.  Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

None worked. Sorry. Did all you suggested.

I am having the same issue as well. I tried everything. I have stopped, started and restarted Apple Mobile Device. I have restarted my computer and my iphone. I have also uninstalled itunes and reinstalled. I still can not have my iphone show up on itunes. I can see my iphone on my computer but not in itunes.

Same here I am not sure if it is a bug issue within iTunes new update or iPhone update. Either way it is on Apple's end and not ours. I need to do a backup and I cannot and other iPhone for recovery.

Right-click the Apple Mobile Device entry in Device Manager and choose Update Driver Software

  • Select "Browse my computer for driver software."
  • Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer."
  • Click the Have Disk button. Note: If the Have Disk option is not present, choose a device category such as Mobile Phone or Storage Device if listed, and then click next. The Have Disk button should then appear.
  • Click the Browse button and navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
  • Double-click the "usbaapl" file. (This file will be called "usbaapl64" if you have a 64-bit version of Windows. If you don't see "usbaapl64" here, or if there is no Drivers folder, look in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers. instead).
  • Click Open in the Have Disk window. Then, click Next and then Click Finish. Windows will install the driver.

Thanks JF Fourie. I followed your steps and now my iPhone is showing up in iTunes... Thanks a lot for your help

JF Fourie, I don't see Apple Mobile Device in my Device Manager. I see it in my Local Services and that is where I have stopped service, start again then also tried restart.

Sorry, I see it is also under Portable Devices. Your iPhone must be connected. Also your cable must be a certified iphone 5 cable.

Good Luck! Also remember to slide your device to unlock and trust the PC

thanks @jf fourie. Your suggestion worked. I can see my iphone on itunes. great

JF Fourie, After probably 324983748927 visits to this site in reference to apple issues I've never once posted but I had this same issue with my iPhone and it was DRIVING ME NUTS! for about anhour because iphone was shoulding on my iMac in iTunes but NOT in my iTunes on my Asus Laptop which is the CPU I have my primary sync account on with all my playlists and everything so I spent about an hour in a half between work this week making 10 playlists with probbaly 2,000+ songs and have to make a several hour drive later on today so wanted my new playlists for the ride and couldn't sync my new jams but your suggestion WORKED LIKE A CHARM and resolved my problem and now I've finished pulling my hair out over this but long of the short:  THANK YOU - usually I have to go through 4-5 different suggestions offered on this site to find a remedy for my problem and this time it was a one stop shop so good lucks - saved my Sunday buddy!

Cheers,
