Clear photos from iPhone and restore later

I'm using iCloud sharing with several devices. I hope to clear photos from one iPhone for a trip I'm planning but I want to restore them to their respective folders after my return. Is there a way to do this without losing folder associations.

If you are using iCloud Photo library, just turn it off on the device you want to clear.

When you have been away, you can turn iCloud photo library on again and merge the new photos or transfer the new photos to a computer, delete them from the phone and then turn on iCloud photo library again and be exactly where you were before you left.
