Can't see images in messages

I've never been able to see images in Messages on Yosemite even thought I can see them on my phone.  They show up like this on my message client:

no_images.png

When I look in Console for this same time frame, this is the error message I'm seeing:

5/13/15 2:26:56.000 PM kernel[0]: Sandbox: Messages(3455) deny file-read-data /private/var/folders/02/0sqvcm513r75g12w46yckzch0836zd/T/IMG_1739.gif

5/13/15 2:26:56.265 PM Messages[3455]: [Warning] Transfer: unable to create image for IMG_1739.gif

(these are the only 'Messages' errors)

I tried to give read/write access to that folder to 'Everyone', but that didn't help.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can get these images to show nicely in the messages client, just like they show nicely on my iPhone?

Thanks!

Quit Messages if it's running.

Triple-click the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C:

~/Library/Messages

In the Finder, select

          Go Go to Folder...

from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return. A folder should open. Inside it, there should be a subfolder named "Attachments" (without the quotes.) If that subfolder doesn't exist, create it. Launch Messages and test.

There was a file in that folder called 'Attachments' but it wasn't a folder.  I removed that file, then created a folder called 'Attachments' and it worked properly.

Thanks so much, this has been bugging me for quite a while!!  I'm sure it can help others as well!

This actually worked for me, as well. Thanks so much to both of you!

Worked for me as well. Thanks!
