id3 "release date" tag in iTunes

In iTunes you have the possibility to select which tags to show up in Viewing and Browsing your iTunes Library.  One of these tags is "year", and you can input the info when selecting the Get info (and the box that appears). Another tag is "release date". Unfortunately there is not possible to input any data for this tag via the  Get info.

How can i put data into the "release date" tag?

(To use both "year" and "release date" would make it possible to have both the date for the original release and re-release of an album. An important distinction for some of us.)

I know this is an old post, but I just spent an hour looking up this issue and couldn't find an answer.

Does anyone know how to tag an audio file so that iTunes will recognize and display the "release date" field?
