4K iTunes movies

Our family got into a new Samsung 4K HDTV a couple of weekends ago as a result of our longtime plasma HDTV dying.

What we found most unique when we went into Best Buy was that most new TVs are 4K. I would say about 90% of everything that was featured was 4K.

And yet iTunes movies is not 4K (Ultra HD). The fourth-generation AppleTV doesn’t support 4K (as most people know). We are all anticipating that the fifth-generation AppleTV will be released sometime in 2017 (supporting 4K).

Yet why isn’t it currently possible to stream 4K iTunes movies? Correct me if I’m wrong, but nothing on iTunes movies is Ultra HD.

Some say that the 4K market is not yet even close to being saturated, therefore none of the movie studios are all that anxious about releasing Ultra HD content. Yet speaking with family members over the past month — New York, Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Washington state respectively — they all have 4K TVs. (I know, we might be unusual in this regard.) All of us are waiting for more 4K content.

It just seems Apple is really behind in this regard. Google Play, Amazon, and others offer 4K content. Why not Apple?

Why not Apple?

We are fellow users, you are not talking to Apple nor iTunes Support on these user forums. If you want to leave feedback to Apple about it (but obviously there would have to be a desire from the film studios/rights-holders to provide films to iTunes in that format) : https://www.apple.com/feedback/
