Apple Watch randomly reboots.

Twice in the first day of owning the watch it reboots randomly while I'm using it.  I 'think' it was while I was in Glances...and again I think it was with the ESPN app.

Anyone else have this issue or know root cause and fix?

The reboot kicks me to a faded Apple logo on the screen and takes a bit to go through a cycle to reboot back to the watch face screen.

Thanks,

If it's only happening in that app, the app may be crashing the watch.

Maybe just having that app is causing your Watch to act up. Try deleting the app.

Rest the watch and restart the phone. Re-pair the watch with the phone and choose NOT to add all apps from the phone.

If that solves the problem, add the apps in one by one until you see the issue again - then you'll know the culprit

If it doesn't solve the problem call Apple support

I just got the 42mm series 2 sport last week, and it's rebooted 3 times at random. The first occurrence happened as I tried to open my Activity from notifications. Can't remember the second occurrence. The last occurrence just happened as I sent a text. It's not app specific.

Rest the watch; restart the phone; re-pair the watch with the phone. If the problem recurs, call Apple support.

My 42mm series 2 watch, running watchOS 3.1.1, started to randomly restart about 2 months after purchase. I noticed it when using an activity app like Runkeeper or Apple's own Workout app. The watch turns off then reboots, on its own, about 10 minutes later. Strangely, the workout app is still running and the map shows a dotted line from the point where the watch turned off to the point where it rebooted.

I've done everything possible to try to correct the problem myself e.g. unpairing then re-pairing, erasing Apple Watch content and settings from the iPhone etc. Nothing has worked.

This is clearly not acceptable. I reported the issue to Apple using the Chat facility. He checked the battery remotely and found nothing wrong. He arranged a repair. I am currently waiting for a box to arrive in the post to enable me to send it back to Apple.

I had the same problem with my series 2 Apple Watch.  After only having it for one month it started to freeze and restart on it's own.  Long period of a black screen before the restart.  Frustrating problem.   it is currently with Apple for repairs.

The same here, I raised my watch to see the time and the screen woke up the device was frozen showing the apple logo on the screen. I had to force reboot my apple eatch series 1. My watch is running the WatchOS 3.1.3..

I also has this problem. I only just purchased my series 2 watch a few days ago and already happened twice. I am running on v.3.1.3

It randomly reboots with a black screen and gradually the apple logo then 5 mins later to the watch face screen. I was only using notification the second time. If that happens when you are about to make an emergency call.....................I wonder has this been fixed.

The exact same problem here. I'm using regularly the AW series 2 and having these random reboots kind of every 3-4 days after doing something in an app, or even maybe when doing nothing just looking at the watchface. Apple please fix this bug, it's really frustrating with the calendar and reminder notification issue as well posted in other forum support page...

And the two is linked cause after the crash and restart I need to set up again the notification settings, each and every time, so really annoing with a $$ smartwatch.

Has anyone found a way to fix, or otherwise and mitigate this problem?

I have even gone so far as pairing the watch and setting it up as a new watch all together with no third-party apps whatsoever, and it still does this. My watch was replaced in May, and the replacement does the same thing.

Disappointing to say the least...
