homepod stereo

If you buy 2 homepods will they work as a stereo system?

A big problem I have with these types of "smart speakers" is that they are a mono source with zero sound imaging.

I am hoping that the homepods will be able to play in stereo rather than just 2 speakers playing in sync?

I would think that the closer we get to the release date, more info would be provided.

In the Keynote where the HomePod was announced, Apple showed on screen how you could use two HomePods as a stereo setup. Hope this helps!
