iCloud and my apple id

I have an old Mac Early 2009 2.66 GHz 8 GB DDR3.  I updated my Apple ID and changed to the new ID everywhere possible.  However, I get an error message saying it wants me to use the password with the old email.  It has blocked me from getting into ICloud.  It seems to not recognize my new Apple ID.  Can anyone help?
