Old iPad backup disappeared from iCloud?

For the past few years, my marching band has given us iPads to use to learn drill and music. They're checked out to us at the beginning of the season, and then we turn them back in at the end of the season. In the past when I've checked my iPad out I've been able to restore it from a backup from the previous year, but this year when I went to do that I couldn't locate the backup. The oldest iPad backup I had was from April for my personal one. I'm annoyed because there were apps and pictures on the band iPad that I need. Is there any way to find it?
