icloud not sending photos to my imac

for some strange reason, when I take photos or videos on my iphone 6 +, they are uploading to the cloud and then to my imac, I did test taking a photo and waited 10 minutes, still nothing.  when I go to photos on my imac computer the photo is not there either. now, something interesting, on my Imac21 which is my backup computer, I still have iphoto on it and the shot I took with the iphone shows up there, All of my computers, iphones are connected to the same wifi. Someone told me that once I upload the image to icloud and then automatically it goes to my photos on my computer so if I delete the photo on my iphone, it will still be on my computer, any ideas

That was true for iPhoto and My Photo Stream. It is NOT true of Photos and iCloud Photo Library. This combination provides access to all your images on all your devices and syncs all edits (including deletes) to all devices.

Make sure that Photos is designated as your System Photo Library.

Photos > Preferences > General > Use as System Photo Library button should be in grey text.

Make sure you have iCloud Photo Library and Download Originals to this Mac selected in

Photos > Preferences > iCloud.

BTW, with iCloud Photo Library enabled, My Photo Stream is redundant and can be checked off.

I am having this same problem John. The last photo which was synced to my iMac was on Sunday 9th August (and only 1 of 17 was synced), everything since then is not showing on my iMac but it has synced between our two phones. Did you find out what the problem was?

Same problem here. iPhone shares pics everywhere except to the iMac Photos app under High Sierra.
