iTunes imports CD tracks as zero length

iTunes 12.7.0.166 on Windows 10.

I use this to rip my CDs to Apple lossless format, and it's been working fine forever.

For some unknown reason it now takes about twenty seconds to rip a CD. It recognizes the track names and lengths, and goes through the actions of ripping, but doesn't copy any audio data. The ripped tunes in my library list as "Time:not available", and the file sizes are 8KB. There are no error messages. If I use iTunes to play the CD directly, it spends about half a second (of silence) on each track before skipping to the next one.

I have replaced the CD drive, and re-installed iTunes, but to no avail.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Pete

Dead or copy protected CD? Try changing the state of the error correction option if you haven't already.
