iOS 11 Compatability Issue with Word 365 for iP...

After upgrading to iOS 11, I have found that there are some compatibility issues when using Office 365 Word in split-screen mode.  Functions like select/copy text and add new comments are no longer functional.  I have to shut down all programs and then restart them, after which the functions work only once then deactivate again.  Even the keyboard shortcuts don't work.

I have shut down the iPad Pro, logged in/out of Office 365, switched keyboards, and contacted Microsoft tech support and the Microsoft community (no responses from either yet).  Have other users experienced this same issue, and are there any workarounds?
