Stuck at 5 minutes to go for 13 hours

My IMac mid 2011 wouldn’t boot up. Kept recycling to a message to restart. After restarting holding down p r option command and shift ( very tricky) I selected disk utility and after it initially not recognizing my hard disk and rebooting in the same way I could see the hd disk and it looked full. I restored from a time machine back up. It booted up and although slow worked 1 time and then done. I was able to erase my HD and then tried a full restore. That failed So I bought more memory and loaded. NOw I still can’t boot up To even check if the memory is seeded correctly. Trying every type of reboot I can’t even get to my disk utility screen to select a restore. Finally restoring os from internet and all looked good until 5 minutes to go. Stuck here for 13 hours. Please help

I'd let it run for a while longer since Internet Recovery is very slow. It sounds as though your hard drive may be failing.

 

If you live near an Apple Store, make a Genius Bar appointment to have the computer tested. Supposedly there is no charge for testing. Use 2nd link if not near an Apple Store or aren’t in the US.       Hardware Repair - Keeping Confidential Data Safe

Eric,  thank you for replying so quickly. If it is Munoz hard drive to I have to bring my entire 27" iMac to the Apple Store? Do you know about how much it would be to refurbish the hard drive?

You need to take the entire computer in case something else is causing/contributing to the problem. If Apple does the work, I don't know how much it will cost. If you want to consider doing it yourself, you can check at the web site below. They have installation videos. I have purchased RAM several times and a hard drive from Other World Computing and have always been very satisfied with the product and service.
