SAT寫作常見evidence的作用
題目：
Write an essay in which you explain how Paul Bogard builds an argument to persuade his audience that natural darkness should be preserved. In your essay， analyze how Bogard uses one or more of the features listed in the box above (or features of your own choice) to strengthen the logic and persuasiveness of his argument. Be sure that your analysis focuses on the most relevant features of the passage.
在SAT寫作的任務要求中有這樣一句：“在你的文章中，分析作者是如何使用一種或多種上麵方框中（或你自己選擇的）手法來加強議論文的邏輯和說服力的。”
對修辭手法的分析是SAT寫作中的重點，根據對範文的學習，我們通常也是用對手法的分析展開主體段的寫作。手法的主要作用就是-strengthen the logic and persuasiveness of the argument。這裏argument不光指全文的觀點，也包括每一段的觀點。
對於修辭手法的作用，我們通常分為兩部分來寫，即總體效果（general effect）和具體效果（specific effect）。手法的總體效果是某一類手法共有的效果，比如數據會使文章更具有科學性，更可靠。這類效果是可以獨立於文章內容的，所以是我們考前準備模板的一大部分。而具體效果就要結合文章具體去分析了。
以下是幾種常見的evidence及其效果：
Fact – Example
effect： The author utilizes the fact/example of … to illustrate the point that… The comprehensively-described details make the argument legitimate.
Anecdote
-personal story
effect： Anecdote is a brief story from one's personal experience. The author employs the anecdote with vivid depiction to reminisce for readers an imaginary reality in their minds， which enhances the authenticity and reasonability of his argument.
Statistics
-statistic evidence， statistic example， numeric example， numbers
effect： Statistics quantifies fact with specific numbers. By introducing the numbers， the author effectively illustrates his point that … in a compelling way， which urges his audiences to agree with him.
Quotation
effect： The author establishes a quotation from a renowned professor XXX. Since this individual is acknowledged as an authority in the field， his words promote credibility and persuasiveness of the argument.
同學們一定要記住在分析手法作用的時候不光要寫以上的手法總體效果（general effect），還要針對細節說明它們支持、證明了什麼（specific effect）。
