New Macbook Pro 13
I just fired up my new Macbook Pro 13 (late 2013). I am trying to sign in with my Apple ID and I get a message "Couldn't sign in because of a server error. Try signing in again."
After trying to sign in again and again and again and again and again and again, I decided that perhaps I can get some help from the support community - because trying to sign in again doesn't seem to be working. I have another Mac that logs in without a problem. I am using a Windows machine to post this discussion without trouble.
I hope this is not an ominous start.
Anyone know how this problem can be corrected?
Thanks for your reply. I just bypassed the sign-in.
It appears that it is just a convenient way of signing into iTunes, AppStore, etc..
Things seem to be working well. Nice fast machine with beautiful graphics.
Apple>About This Mac>More Info>Service
Please read the warranty paperwork that came w/your computer.
You have 14 days to return the computer w/no questions asked.
You have 90 days of FREE phone tech support on top of your standard 1 year warranty unless you also purchased AppleCare which gives you an additional 2 years of coverage plus FREE phone support.
Strongly suggest that you take FULL advantage of the above before it runs out. Let Apple deal w/the problems.

Just a FYI:
I was able to log into any Apple related resource using the same credentials once I bypassed the initial login (obstacle), so I do not know the cause of what I would term a defect in the startup program.
I'm having the same problem
I forget my password I tried to rest the password with my apple ID it's seems not working i try again and again it just till me ^ couldn't sign in because of server error. Try signing in again^
Same exact issue , apple support doesn't know how to fix it , they don't seem to have a clue how to get past this .
How did you bypass the sign-in screen?
Trying to log in to my MacBook Air with my password and keep getting notice: couldn't sign in because of a server error,. What does that mean?
I know this is post is a bit old but I'm having this same issue with my new MacBook Pro 2017, how was this issue resolved? How do I 'bypass'?
You're going to want to connect to wifi from that screen before you are able to log in. Otherwise you'll receiver an error message failing to log in because of server issues.
