why does iPad Pro screen dim?

The screen on my new 10.5 Pro keeps cycling through dim to normal and back again. I've tried turning the various Display and Brightness settings on and off in various combinations but nothing helps. Is something not working right or did I miss a setting?

Hi. Since you've tried the controls without success, you may actually have a hardware problem. Take it to an Apple store for assessment; make an appointment.
