2015 iMac 27 inch Thin Pink Vertical line on Sc...

iMac 27 inch bought March 2015, I went and woke up my mac and there was a Thin Pink Verticle line on the screen, what is this from and How do you get rid of this.

I just use this mac for basic computing, nothing special.

Good afternoon jks2002,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

If the display on your iMac is showing a thin pink vertical line, we need to determine if this is a hardware issue or a software issue.

Here are a few troubleshooting steps to try:

1. Restart the computer
2. Reset the PRAM - macOS Sierra: Reset your computer’s NVRAM or PRAM
3. If you have another display that you can connect your iMac to, see if the vertical lines appear on the second display.
4. Take a screenshot of the desktop.  (Command+Shift+3).  Do the vertical lines appear in the screenshot?

If the issue is hardware related, you may need to take your iMac to a local Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider to troubleshoot further.

Hi Sarah,

Thank you for responding..

I did the screenshot and the vertical line doesn't appear on the screen shot...

On my iMac screen the thin pink vertical line would be in the blue area.

Since the line isn't showing up would this bee a Hardware or Software issue?

Thank you for your help.

Hi jks2002,

If the vertical line is not appearing in the screenshot, then it may be a hardware issue with your display.  If the vertical line would have appeared in the screenshot, it would indicate an issue with the graphics card or software.  Click on the link provided to have an Apple Retail Store Genius or an Apple Authorized Service Provider near you physically inspect your Mac.

Thank you for your answer,

i have an appointment scheduled but I am very dissapointed, I purchased this 27 inch iMac

March 2015, with knowing the mac were good but not cheap $1,900.00

i am very hoping whether it's the software or graphics card I shouldn't have to pay out of pocket considering the cost.

if I do I certainly would never recommend a mac to anyone.

i have never had issues with any dell product.

If you purchased AppleCare and your coverage is still in effect then this will be covered. If you did not purchase AppleCare then you decided to self insure and assume the risk. I know that isn't what you want to hear however with any computer there can be failures. That being said it's unusual that GPUs fail in this short a time, however that is exactly why AppleCare exists.

Good luck.

Yep. My fully loaded, $3,000+ 2013 iMac 27" also had an LCD failure. a few months out of warranty, Apple refused to even goodwill 50% of the repair costs.  So I went on eBay and bought a used LCD panel.  Worked great for one year and a pink line just appeared yesterday.  Apple has a known problem with their LG display panels but refuses to goodwill even a portion of the repair on this expensive high-end machine thats supposed to last years.  Now I'm between a rock and a hard place.  Do I buy yet ANOTHER $400 replacement screen or just cut my losses and sell this and go back to building my own PCs.  This *****.  I really wanted to brag about how long my Apple products last especially my most expensive one, a $3,000 (now) paperweight.  The LG part # on my screen is LM270WQ1(SD)(F2)
