Hacked

Below is what I've tweeted to apple- there are so many of us this has happened to- can anything be done? 

Hi Apple! My MacBook is locked via 'find my iPhone' with the retrieval email help.apple@gmx.com. Apple support inform me that A hacker bought my Apple ID and password from 'somewhere'... and later casually dropped into conversation that 'as far as Apple are aware there has been no leak or security breach very suspect. Anyway, if the hacker hasn't already wiped my hard drive via 'find my iphone'  the only option I have is to take it to the Apple Store to be wiped! Great! 

THIS HAS HAPPENED TO SEVERAL PEOPLE. The find my iPhone features are supposed to be helpful to the owner of the phone- not enable hackers to erase data remotely! This is unacceptable. I was never asked on my APPLE iPhone (linked to the mac) to confirm I wanted the mac locked- wouldn't that be a good idea? 

I can prove undoubtedly it is MY Apple ID, that it is compromised and all devices belong to me. 

You created this technology- this has happened to several

People- if you were willing you COULD fix this. I will not be letting this go.

As an aside- I've lost irreplaceable data for my thesis- which was exploring how we can make the education system benefit migrants and refugees better. I know, pointless.

If you have proof that the devices are yours, then you can take them into Apple and have the lock removed. No need to wipe anything. First you should change your AppleID password to prevent this from happening again. Once you get everything squared away, consider turning off Find my ... or turn of Two Factor Authentication. If you had used your Apple ID and or password elsewhere, make sure to change those passwords too.

So this happened to me last week on my iPad. I keep hearing people say "take it to the Apple store", so that's where I'm headed tomorrow, but I'm not so sure. This particular hack seems to have originated form some place in Russia - Kalunga, I've heard numerous people mention this (and it's what showed up on my phone as well when I got the message about my iPad). If I do have any success, I will update this thread. I have 6 months of baby pictures not backed up that I do not want to lose.
