Mac mail Version 10.3 (3273) and .pro TLD

Can anyone shed any light on why Mac mail Version 10.3 (3273) will not accept an email account from a .pro TLD?

It simply will not allow the account to be added, not recognising the username and password etc, etc.

Any help would be greatly received
