should I buy a 2011 macbook pro with new logic ...

Should I buy a 2011 Macbook Pro that has a new logic board and power board? Does anyone think that this will increase the longevity of a 2011 Macbook Pro?

Hi, it's risky since it's now longer supported by Apple. If you ever encounter an issue they won't be able to help.

FWIW. I would say no. From experience I have a 2010 MacBook Pro that had recently started to have issues with the display screen. It was determined that this issue was due to a faulty integrated graphics chip on the logic board which would require a board replacement. Since the cost was almost half of what I had paid when the MBP was new, I decided to "live with" the issue.

You need to question why the logic board was replaced in the first place ... and, most of the time, it would "tell" you that the notebook has pretty much used up it useful life. Also, Apple now considers these model as "vintage" when it comes to support. That would be one-stage away from the "obsolete" category.

Finally, consider the source for the notebook. Do they provide any money-back guarantees if you are not satisfied. If you are trying to save money, may I suggest that you look at purchasing a used Mac from either Apple or a reputable source, like Other World Computing (OWC).

The seller said the computer stopped charging and would not power up so the power board was replaced which didn't help, then the logic board was replaced

Hmm, I'm thinking along the lines of what the Army recruiter doesn't tell you here. In this case, it's what the seller didn't want to tell you that I would be concerned about. I think you may want to consider getting a refund. However, it's really up to you. Remember this is a vintage device. If something should go wrong, Apple will not be able to help you in the near future.

I'd not after owning four of them, three 15 and one 17. The heat control is not up to par until you get into the mid 2012 rMBPro.
