imap.gmail.com not trusted

My sons Ipad mini 2015 was getting this message "imap.gmail.com not trusted". I had the option to view and it told me the security certificate was not valid for gmail. All was working fine before this, I notice the OS was behind a release so I updated to 10.3.3 and machine rebooted, still same error. Not able to figure out how to change the certificate, I deleted his gmail account and no issue. But when I click on apple mail and select gmail to start setup I get a mostly white screen with accounts.google.com and Gmail at the top. If I select any other mail servers as setup I get the correct prompts. I cannot re add his gmail account or any other gmail account

Also noticed his youtube was not working, white screen with Error loading tap to retry. I uninstalled the app and reinstalled in the app store. When opens asked me to sign in with his gmail account, same thing. If I try to add a different account I get error message NETWORK UNAVAILABLE cancelled.

We are connected to wifi and I did try switching networks. Everything works fine on macbook. Any suggestions on how to get gmail and youtube working on the ipad?
