when I use my Apple ID to set up iCloud on my iMac I get the following message "There was an error connecting to the Apple ID server". This always happens after reboot (os upgrade). I have an iCloud account which I can access so why is this message coming up? I bypass it by clicking set up next time.

Try restarting the computer to see if the message appears again.

I have the very same issue: unable to complete App Store purchases and access iTunes account on MacBook Pro. I do, however, have no such issues with other devices - only the MacBook Pro. Tried reboot and shutdown/restart multiple times.
