Continuity and Handoff not working (Solution)

I'm opening this topic just to share my solution to the problem that some of you may be facing too.

After upgrading to macOS Sierra, the Continuity features stopped working completely between my MacBook and iPhone, so I did all the standard procedures with no success:

- Log off from iCloud on both devices and log in again

- Reset PRAM on Mac

- Reset Network Settings

- Turn bluetooth off and on (on all devices)

- Creating a new user on mac to see if it was a specific user problem (no success)

- Restart both devices numerous times

- Reset the router (just in case)

And after a day trying to fix it, I gave up. But the next morning (today), I decided to try one last thing, and for my surprise, everything went back to normal instantly and like magic.

Here's what I did:

On your mac,

1. Turn bluetooth off

2. Finder -> Go to Folder... -> /Library/Preferences/

3. Delete the file com.apple.Bluetooth.plist

4. Turn bluetooth on

Boom. Everything went back to normal.

I hope this helps anyone who's facing the same problem as I was. Any questions, please ask below.

Can you verify the correct path  is the one as written :

/Library/Preferences/

and not

~/Library/Preferences/

Worked perfectly! Thanks for this post!

When inserting the directory in "Go to...", it's not necessary to include "~". But thanks for the tip anyway!

Thanks for the clarrification.

~/  is the user

/   is the System

done this many times – and much else – with no success

Thank you for this. This solved my problem. I'm on a Mac Pro running Sierra.

I have this issue but just on m,y iMac not my macbook. I do not have that file.

Thanks for posting a solution!

It worked for me.

It didn't work. Then I tried something similar and it worked. Because of the Continuity issue, I thought perhaps if I turned off Bluetooth on both devices, then deleted the com.apple.bluetooth.plist file, rebooted both devices, and then turn on Bluetooth on both devices, then manually initiate a bluetooth pairing of the devices it may work. It did!

So, everyone just follow what @lucasvallim said here:

1. Turn bluetooth off

2. Finder -> Go to Folder... -> /Library/Preferences/

3. Delete the file com.apple.Bluetooth.plist

But:

4. Reboot both devices

5. Turn Bluetooth on in both devices

6. Manually pair both devices with Bluetooth

7. If "Hotspot" is turned on in the iPhone, disconnect your pairing to save your data.

Now everything should work. Hope this helps.
