Apple Watch workout app
workout app dos not work. No miles, time or steps recording.
Hi, make sure you have workout data analytics ON on your iPhone: Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Apple Watch Workout
In the Apple Watch app also make sure that in Privacy, tracking is enabled.
Hi
The following steps may help:
- If you have not yet done so, update your iPhone and Apple Watch to the latest software, starting with your iPhone:
- Check that you have fully set up the Activity app on your watch:
- When viewing the time on your watch face, tap on the Activity rings icon / complication, or;
- Go the Home screen (via a single press of the Digital Crown) and tap on the Activity app icon (coloured rings).
- To get started, you will need to enter some personal information.
- Close certain apps and restart both your iPhone and your Apple Watch:
- Close the Watch app, Activity app, Health app and any third-party fitness or sleep tracking apps (if open) on your iPhone:
- Double-click the Home button, then swipe up on each app preview to close the apps.
- Turn both devices off together, then restart your iPhone first:
- Close the Watch app, Activity app, Health app and any third-party fitness or sleep tracking apps (if open) on your iPhone:
- Check that Wrist Detection is turned on and that, if passcode is enabled, you are unlocking your watch after placing it on your wrist
- On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > General > Wrist Detection - turn on.
- On your iPhone, go to: Settings > Privacy > Motion & Fitness - check that both Fitness Tracking and Health are enabled.
- On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > Privacy > Motion & Fitness - turn on Fitness Tracking and Heart Rate.
- Active calories and other activity-related estimations depend, in part, on your personal information. To check that this is accurate:
- On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > Health > Edit - tap and adjust items, then tap on Done.
- During general daily wear and when using the Workout app to record workouts when GPS data is either not relevant or not available, the Activity app and Workout app track your arm motion (measured by the accelerometer) when estimating results.
- For the best results, allow the arm on which you are wearing your watch to swing naturally as you move around during daily wear and to move as expected during workouts.
- Calibrating your watch improves the accuracy of various activity-related estimations. Instructions for how to calibrate your watch are available via the support article linked below. The article also includes instructions for resetting existing calibration data and starting afresh. (Resetting your calibration data will not erase your Activity history).
