Poor Battery life of macbook pro 13 inch touch bar

hello. actually i am having very bad battery support from my macbook. i purchased this macbook only 2 or 3 months back. but i am scared that the battery drains so fast. if i watch any video then it drains even more fast. On average I get around 2-3 hours. does this mac really have any problem? actually what's the average battery life for this new version? i don't know about it.  but last time I had macbook pro 13 inch retina display of 2012 version. That's battery life aws quiet satisfactory. i used to get around 10 hours.

i brought it by somebody from china. but I live in Bangladesh. what should I do in this case? please help me. it was a very expensive investment on my part.

First thing to try is to reset the SMC:

I would also try to get a reasonably accurate measure of battery consumption.  Boot the Mac, note the time and the percentage of battery charge.  Work for a couple of hours and note the time and percentage.  Then do the math.  I would not rely on the 'time remaining' when you click on the battery icon in the menu bar with the option key.

If the battery run time is still below what you think it should be, you will have to consider having Apple examine the MBP.  Macs can be shipped to Apple for warranty work if there isn't an Apple store nearby.

Ciao.

Hi,

First, it depends on exactly what you're doing; watching video with the display light turned all the way up and Bluetooth on and using Wi-Fi is going to use much more battery life than a Word doc open and lightly surfing the Internet with the above mention items being turned off/down.

Second, it doesn't matter what the battery monitors say, as they are often inaccurate. Actual run-time is all that matters.

It sounds like you are talking about actual run time, and if so, that is not good battery run time.

As mentioned, it might be good to have Apple look at the MBP and diagnose it; there have been plenty of MBPs that have had bad batteries which needed replacement. I don't know what issues you might run into given where you purchased it and where you are now, all you can do is ask (especially about the shipping option that is offered in the U.S., but I don't know where else it is offered). I don't know what's going to happen as far as an AASP looking at it (you may have to pay for the diagnosis), but if you can get to an actual Apple Store, there should be no charge for looking at it and replacing the battery as needed: https://support.apple.com/contact

As always, make sure you are backed up and bring your power adapter with you too.

I am facing the same issue. Barely get 3 hours of battery life... its absolutely terrible
