Apple says my serial number is not valid

Just bought a Macbook pro and when I enter serial number to check warranty, Apple says my serial number is invalid.

If that's the case then I would call Apple support.  https://www.apple.com/contact/

Either it's such a new product that it hasn't been entered into the database yet or you're typing one of the letters or numbers in incorrectly.

To fix it, you may want to register your product via the website or by calling in to AppleCare -- 1-800-APL-CARE so they can force it into the system.

You may also want to verify that the system serial number on the bottom of the system matches the one that you see by going to the Apple Menu--> About this Mac, then click twice on the 10.7 version number.

Are you sure you are imputing the "serial" number & not some other number?  To confirm, the serial number is also listed in the System Profiler.  You can cut & paste it onto the check warranty website.

I'm having the same issue, purchased Macbook Pro two weeks ago and registration says serial number not valid.  Cannot register to AppleCare as well. Called and they are having issues with some serial numbers not being able to enter into their databases. Could not even locate my serial number. Rep said Apple engineers are aware and working on the problem. No ETA on fix though.

the serial number that apple asked is your device serial number (serial number of your macbook). Try it out.

I am now having this same issue with my 4th Generation Apple TV that I purchased AppleCare on. The problem is that Apple has literally locked support down. Without a valid serial number for an in-warranty product you cannot even get through to Apple Support. They have even removed the option to request a support exception. The worst part is I am trying to inform them that one of their employees added some hate towards minorities by telling me that illegalize is spelled wrong and the only suggestion it gives me is "Illegals". I have tested this on two Macs, one of which runs El Capitan and the other runs Sierra. I figured it would be nice of me to contact Apple before I report this to the media. But since I cannot contact support because Apple Support wont even let me choose the old iPhone SE that was stolen from me (I had AppleCare and its still under warranty). It asked for the IMEI even though I logged in to my account. Then they decided to tell me my $250 Apple TV has an invalid serial number two months before AppleCare ends. So they have had how long to enter the serial number? It was my job to remind them? What's this? I cannot get support without the serial number you say is invalid. Well then, I guess I tried everything I could and I am just going to have to report my findings to the media in hopes that people will decide on this with their wallets.
