Outlook 2007 no longer working with iCloud afte...

I have iCloud 6.2.1 running on my PC using Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.  I am running Outlook 2007 and use that calendar to sync with the calendar on my Apple devices.  Windows performed an update last night on my PC and when launching Outlook 2007 this morning and trying to access my calendar I receive the following message.  "cannot expand the folder.  the set of folders cannot be opened. an unexpected error has occurred.  MAPI was unable to load the information service c:\progra~2\common~1\apple\intern~1\aplzod.dll.  be sure the service is correctly installed and configured."  I have since unistalled and reinstalled icloud and also deleted the icloud data file from Outlook.  It is still not working.  Please help.

The Outlook 2007 security update released on 6-13-17 that broke the iCloud Calendar and Contacts plugin is KB3191898.  This happened with two of my users, one on Windows 10 and 8.1 running Outlook 2007 and iCloud.

I uninstalled KB3191898, hid the update so it wouldn't get reinstalled, and now everything is working once again.

Will post this on Microsoft Technet so they are made aware of their Patch Tuesday security fix breaking the iCloud Outlook plugin.

Can anyone walk me through the procedure to roll back the update?

I've uninstalled KB3191898 but how do you hide the update from keep wanting to install again. I am using Windows 10.

Windows 10 home edition does not allow hiding specific updates.  For now, I turned off the option to check for updates on other Microsoft products.

Under Windows update, select Advanced Options.  Uncheck the box to "Give me updates for other Microsoft Products When I update Windows."  When Microsoft fixes this problem, you can recheck that box.

There is also a tool from Microsoft for blocking driver and other Windows 10 updates. Google search KB3073930

Hope that helps.

Thanks for you swift reply. I've done as you say. How will I know when Microsoft fixes the problem?

The most active thread I have found about this on microsoft.com is here.  KB3191898 fixes CVE-2017-8506 which is a remote code execution vulnerability.  Rolling back KB3191898 doesn't seem like a good idea.

Same problem here, BUT hiding this "Important Update" does not permanently prevent it from being downloaded and installed. Hide it, exit Windows Update, the run Windows Update again and you will see it on the list of updates that need to be installed. VERY ANNOYING!

I have this problem too.

Delete and hide the Windows update that ends in the number 858. That should fix the problem. To do that, got to control panel and click on programs and features, then view installed updates. Find the update ending in the number 858, right click on it, and choose uninstall. It will take a minute or so. Once done, check Outlook. You may need to reboot.

TYPO — that should say the update ending in 898.

thank you!!

I did the exact same thing last night and it's working.  Uninstalled that update and hid it and it's working fine....I hope it can be fixed so I don't have to worry about it going forward.

What I did to prevent it from being installed in the future is changed my settings to have me control if and when updates are downloaded and installed, so it will not automatically install again.

please, could anyone suggest how to 'hide' the update 898. I have uninstalled, icloud returned to work, but i am wondering if hiding it may ensure this problem not occurring again, of if the forum thinks best to control the updates. if the latter, please could you suggest how to control specific updates? thank you again. this forum was v useful on this specific issue.
