how do can I reset my watch? it is stuck on the...

My Apple Watch is stuck on the change password screen and is not paired to my iPhone.  It will not pair so I cannot use the App to reset it.  Is there a hard reset option to restore to factory default?  Thank you

Hold the digital crown and the side button together for around 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears. That should allow you to get fix the issue

Hi, Yes, did that and still comes back up to "wrong password, open the apple watch app on your iPhone, go to passcode, then tap re-enable passcode entry to try again...  Which will not work as the phone is not paired and is unable to pair due to that message staying on the screen with no other menu options on the phone.  Thank you!  /c

You could try restarting the phone. That might kick the Watch app into recognising there's a watch paired

I Have this same problem except my watch was in airplane mode when it got locked out.  So I don't think it will ever pair with my phone

If rebooting doesn't work, you might try to un-pair from the phone app and see if will re-pair and unfreeze.

Apple Support article/instructions can be found here: Unpair your Apple Watch and iPhone

When you get the power off option, just press the middle of the screen and you get an option to reset the watch.

this helped a lot thanks

All the solutions do not work. Airplane mode does not reset automatically when I reset it on my iPhone. It could still be in airplane mode.

Thanks JohnT. I've never had issues with my watch before, and was looking to update it to the new OS and learned it had been unpaired some how, and kept tell me my passcode was wrong, and I knew it wasn't and couldn't get anywhere. Thanks for your suggestion it worked!

This solved my problem - many thanks

I have done the above and all I get after the Apple logo is the same wrong passcode screen back on. I've unpaired my watch from my phone thinking that might help. No go. I've tried resetting my watch but it won't reset. It's just stuck on wrong passcode...

I'm really getting aggravated with this. Sigh.

Hi

Follow these steps to erase your Apple Watch and re-pair it with your iPhone:

  • Connect your watch to its charging cable, with power connected.
  • Press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off slider.
  • Press firmly on Power Off (do not try to slide it - just press down more firmly than a normal tap) and then tap on Erase all content and settings.
  • Re-pair your watch using the Watch app on your iPhone, choosing to Restore from Backup if offered the option.

Thanks! That solved the problem.
