How to convert Exchange contacts to iCloud cont...

I've been using both iCloud and Exchange accounts to manage contacts for a few years.  I recently changed jobs and lost access to my Exchange account (though never deleted the contacts from my phone).  Now trying to port all of those contacts into my iCloud account (if that makes sense?) but can't seem to find an easy way to do it.  Has anyone had this problem?

Do you have access to a computer, it's much easier there.

Then just drag them from one account to the other inside the contacts app.

I can't log into the Exchange account on the computer (new computer) - no longer have access.  That account is only on my phone.

OK, I see. Then I'm not 100% certain but I believe if you disable contacts in the exchange account you should be asked if you want to keep the contacts. If you then enable contacts in the iCloud account you should be asked if you want to merge.

Yeah I had hoped it would give me that option, but if I disable or go to delete the Exchange account it tells me it will delete all Exchange contacts from my phone.

Just to check, are you definitely trying to disable contacts and not sign out of the account?
