Apple Watch Calendar Notification
I'm a Fantastical User, and as such have deleted the iOS Calendar app from my iPhone. This all removed it from the Apple Watch app.
So why am I still receiving Apple Watch Notifications from the Apple Native Calendar app? I receive my Fantastical Notification, and then immediately after, I receive the same Notification from iCal.
Hello hallofchristian,
After reviewing your post, it sounds like you are receiving a notification on the Watch and on the iPhone for the Calendar you uninstalled. I would recommend you read these articles, they explain how you can set custom notifications or disable notifications for specific apps:
Use Notifications on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
Notifications on your Apple Watch
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Have a nice day.
I'm having this issue too, I reinstalled the native calendar app so that I could turn off notifications entirely in both the phone app and the watch app - BUT I'M STILL GETTING THEM. It's really annoying.
Try turning off calendar syncing in iCloud settings. They might be syncing from another device with the account in it. Do you own any other devices?
same problem here, any solutions?
I'm having this problem, too.
To those who've suggested sync-based solutions: the problem isn't that there are calendars being synced that we don't want. It's that we're getting duplicate notifications on the Watch (not on the phone): one from Fantastical and one from Calendar.
I suspect there's no way around this under the current software, since the Apple Watch calendar app seems pretty standalone and Fantastical syncs using the Calendar syncing mechanisms. Fantastical brings the calendar events and reminders onto the watch; the Calendar app sees them and sends a reminder.
Just to double check with the others with this issue...this has not always been the case, right? I started using Fantastical in September 2016, and this issue didn't show up until a month or so ago.
Not in my experience. Maybe within the last month or two for me. And not with much consistency, because I don't get the double-up on Fantastical/native Calendar notifications for every event either.
Apple Support are you ever going to respond to this?
This is beyond annoying. I have tried everything and can't get the Calendar alerts off my phone even after the app is deleted.
I don't use Mac Cal anywhere!

This is a user to user support forum, and Apple does not participate here. If you wish to get a response from Apple Support, then you need to use the Contact Support link at the top of these pages here.
Same issue. I have tried both custom and mirror iPhone settings but Apple Watch ignores the settings and sends some Calendar alerts regardless.
I’ve tried both of the following and am still getting random Calendar alerts on my Apple Watch.
Watch app>Notifications>Calendar>Custom>“Show Alerts” toggled off.
OR
iPhone Settings app>Notifications>Mirror my iPhone
Watch app>Notifications>Calendar>”Allow Notifications” toggled off.
I figured it out!!
It seems when you actually uninstall the calendar app it really just hides it. So you have to put it back on your device and watch. Then go through every setting and turn off everything in the cal settings.
Turn off notifications
Turn off add from apps
Turn off mirror phone
Turn off everything you can and then it stops it.
Doesn’t work for me. I still get random Calendar alerts on my Apple Watch with them disabled on both iPhone and Apple Watch.
I'm not sure how much this helps everyone, but it's finally stopped for me.
One thing that might be of importance: I had an iOS beta profile on my iPhone. That was removed a few weeks ago, and I was prompted to update to the formal iOS 10.3.2. release about 10 days ago. Since then, the double notifications have stopped.
Important to note that my problem was exactly as people described: I was receiving Calendar notifications, despite deleting it and defaulting to Fantastical. This persisted, even after a restore as new on both my iPhone 7 Plus and Apple Watch. I'm assuming the iOS beta lingered on my phone after the restore, because it's been all peaceful since I updated to the official 10.3.2 release.
I also did have a lengthy chat with a few Apple reps. I can't promise they didn't work some magic on their end, too, but Fantastical has been my only calendar notification since.
BM for if anyone finds a resolution to this issue as it's getting on my nerves!
