Safari iOS 10 maximum number of tabs is 500

My experience shows that the  maximum number of tabs in Safari iOS 10 is 500, it is not unlimited as it was reported by some other sources.

I counted 501 tabs - probably I've made a mistake and it was just 500. Upon reaching it "+" sign faded out not allowing me to add any more tabs before closing at least one tab.

Hi. This may be related to the amount of processor memory (not storage) on the device. Nice to know someone cares.

Out of curiosity, does anyone really use that many tabs? I can understand 10 or 20 tabs. 50-100 is excessive. 500? Really? Nice to know that someone actually has time to tap new tab 500 times. I guess it's a good thing it maxes out at 500. Otherwise you'd still be tapping it right now.

You don't need to tab 500 times. Put 500 links in a folder, and one click will do.

Is this really a problem for someone?

REALLY?...

what is?

No bro you are right its 501

Really dude?...

You felt a need to reply to this post?

Like anyone is going to have or use 501 tabs open in a web browser!

Your going to be lucky, depending on web site content, that any iOS based web browser will be able keep more than 20 active website tabs open without crashing, never mind 501!

Who is going to try this in "normal" everyday use?

Idiocy or insanity or maybe both!

This was a stupid posting from the getgo

WT!.....

Ever since I got my iPhone I haven't closed a tab yet and have reached the max of 500, some people just open a new tab everytime they open safari, like me. Nothing wrong with it, just don't bother to close the old ones:)

Same. I also switch back and forth between my MacBook and iPhone and will forget to close the tab in the original device's browsing list when I'm done with it, thus keeping it open on that device.

What do you mean we’re lucky to have 20 tabs without crashing? Exactly how bad do you think iOS devices are?!? I have 78 tabs open right now and as I write this on my iPhone, it’s not slowed down at all

If your iPhone has 2 GBs of RAM or more AND if you have no other resource hungry apps hanging around in the iOS App Switcher, AND the web content in these tabs is not very content intensive, then maybe, and I STRESS, MAYBE, you could, perhaps, manage 50-100 active website tabs without a crash!

I ain't buyin' having 500 active website tabs open in ANY iOS web browser!

Ain't buyin' into that!

I am more inclined to believe, perhaps 50 to 100 active website tabs in an iOS web browser.

But that's still stretchin' credibility for my sensibilities and my very large and significant knowledge of iOS.

Do old tabs disappear after a certain amount of time?

Hi Universaltraveler83. I don't believe so. Have you tried it?
