MacBook Pro CPU failure repair program

Dear Apple,

After a long wait, 19 February 2015 Apple finally announced a repair program for the failing MacBook Pros 2011 editions suffering from system crashes and hardware problems due to AMD graphics.

The repair program run until 31 December 2016 or three years from its original date of sale, whichever of those provides longer coverage. There are however 2011 MacBook Pro owners having these problems who were not aware (there has been no recall or notification to the owners) but have suffered this issue during the repair program duration.

Eventually, beginning of 2017 we found our MacBook boots to a blue or grey screen. Currently, the only permanent resolution is to get a replacement logic board, but that can prove quite costly without Apple Care.

As owner we are now out of support and can no longer use the repair program to overcome the issue which is due to a manufacturing flaw. A disappointing experience for a proud MacBook Pro 2011 owner who can no longer use his Apple product and has to reach out to unofficial support :-((
