Mac Pro and TB3 drives/Raids

I am looking to purchase a replacement RAID after a major failure of the old one.  Since it seems that apple is moving everything to Thunderbolt 3 eventually, I was going to buy a TB3 raid, however I am concerned that the Mac Pro 2013 won't be able to read the drive since I haven't been able to get an answer to whether or not those TB 2 to TB 3 adapters work in both directions.  I have been able to use them on the MacBook Pro 2017 with TB 2 drives, but not sure about the other way around.  Any Thoughts?
