i am switching to a mack.

I was wondering if a Mackbook was compatible with Microsoft?

No, it runs Apple OSX, not Microsoft Windows,

It depends what you mean if "compatible with Microsoft".

The MacBooks are running macOS but with BootCamp they can even run Windows (Boot Camp – Apple Support).

Of course Windows can run with any virtualization software like VirtualBox from Oracle.

Microsoft Office exists for macOS as well, but do not offer all the functionalities of the Windows version, despite this remain a good product (Office 365 for Mac, Office 2016 for Mac).

Of course if a software exists for both Mac and Windows, usually the inter compatibility is really good.

Macs can also join Windows based network.

If you have specific question, please ask.
