Christmas Fail

I am not tech savvy. I just purchased an Apple Watch 42 mm
Series 1 for my husband for Christmas- He doesn’t have a cell phone. I
genuinely did not know that it works with the iPhone and I cannot return it. I
was mostly looking for fitness features, and obviously- To tell time. I just
wondered what features it has by itself, without having an iPhone? Is it worth
it to keep it?

Apple Watch cannot be set up or used on a standalone basis.

A paired iPhone is required (iPhone 5s or later, for the upcoming software versions of iOS and watchOS).

For an Apple Watch that has been purchased directly from Apple, Apple's return policy varies by country, but is typically 14 days. Other retailers' return policies may vary.

If you are outside of the returns period, then you may wish to consider selling the Apple Watch privately.
