how do I upload all my photos to icloud from imac

I have tried icloud.com but it will, for some reason, only upload 2500 of 9500 pictures I have. There is lots of space left on the cloud drive (42Gb), and all my pictures fill 38Gb.

Are you giving the upload process enough time? 10k of photos might take days to upload, depending on your connection speed. Note also that each time you turn off iCPL (as opposed to pausing it), the upload processstarts from the beginning.

Leave your Mac powered overnight. Much of the uploading is done in the background, when you’re not otherwise using your Mac.

Are you leaving the Mac connected and turned on?  With that many photos to upload, it will take some time.

Thanks for your replies. It makes sense as my upload speed is no more than 2mb.

What seems strange is that I left it for the day and when I got back the number of items on icloud was the same.

Is there any way to monitor upload progress to see that something is happening?
