Every Time I Open iTunes 12.6.2.20 It Forces Me...

For the last few days, every time I open iTunes 12.6.2.20, it forces me to create a new library.

When I do, the library only contains the 216 albums I have purchased on iTunes. The 2,000 albums I have ripped to iTunes do not appear.

I have ported them over twice--very time consuming as it's about a half-terrabyte. But, it keeps losing them.

The music files are in the iTunes folder, fortunately, but iTunes is useless to me now.

I have iTunes on a external HD due to the library size, but that HD is always on.

What do I do
