accidentally deleted precious photos HELP

Hi all,

I am new to mac's and I have tried to my best knowledge to recover some photos (well alot of photos) that were deleted off my mac *they are not in the trash and my stupid time machine was off*  what is the best recovery program to get these photos back?? I am currently running one called StellarPheonix Recovery but it's been running all night and day and i believe i will have to pay for it no biggie as long as I know it will work. I only want to recover those lost yesterday (Nov. 1)

Create a data recovery/undelete external boot drive

thank you for that post but that is a bit beyond my technical understanding :s  I wish someone could just magically take over my macbook and poof bring them back...

I have an external hard drive that plugs into the USB port of my laptop... but I don't have the Disk for the operating system as I downloaded it from the app store (upgraded to lion) and the computer is about 2.5 years old now. I dont want to loose any of my other photos or stuff off the mac that is still there either.

You need to stop what your doing and take the machine to a local PC/Mac data recovery/software repair.

The more your using the computer, the more your writing to the hard drive and possibly overwriting deleted files.

If you can't do it yourself for $200, then let the experts do it for $300 or find a local friend that will do it cheap.

That's the price for not making adequate backups, I'm sorry.

I had this happen once before back when I first got it and i was able to recover them with a program. that one i am running right now seems to be finding them I just hope it really will work. I dont want to stop the program as it was running all night and day to find these photos... :s Have you heard of it before?  StellarPheonix Recovery

Yes, if you have it already installed before the accidental deletion it can't overwrite deleted files.

I don't have much need for software like that because I make regular backups.

Most commonly used backup methods

A ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure.

I did have my time machine on before I dont know how it got turned off it used to make regular back ups... I'm really upset that it was off that was the first place I went. And  I downloaded Pheonix recovery after when I was trying to recover the files.

Try Data Rescue from Prosoft.  They have a trial version that will scan your drive, but then if you want to recover your files I think you gotta pay for it.  Might be worth it though in your case.

This program Stellar Phoenix is a great help getting you lost photos back..if you have a larger hard drive it will take a little bit more time than a usual scan time.BTW which option you have used to recover your lost photos in Stellar Phoenix program.

I also have faced this situation of photo loss while transferring them from my camera to Mac OS. From someone, I heard about Photo recovery software. This tools works very well on Mac system and believe me i got my all pictures back. Demo version of tool is available if you want to make a try...

First scan your storage media where you lost your photos.

Second analyze the the available data for recovering.

Third recover the lost photos, videos, audios and other lost data.

Fourth restore the lost data to the specific location wherever you want.

If you don't have a back up - and now you've learned that lesson - you'll need a file recovery app like Photo Recovery.

This will scan the disk looking for recoverable files. It will find many of the same name. IN every case always recover the largest file size.

Regards

Penny

Time Machine would only help you in the future. Is your Mac set up with Time Machine? If so you should be able to get the deleted files that way. Click the Time Machine icon in the dock. Then go back to before you deleted the files, they are probably still available. f you don't have a Time Machine backup yet, then your best option would probably be uFlysoft Data Recovery for Mac
