Master Calendar for Mac IOS

I remain baffled by the Calendar app in IOS which sets up a separate calendar for each user in the family - which is fine - but to be honest all I require is ONE MASTER calendar where all the activity is recorded.

How do I do this with you having to select each person's calendar (and sub calendar) to see who is doing what and when and eliminates the dreadful amount of duplications I get.

Above all, the duplications kill me.
