Mouse support for iPad pro

Will the iPad Pro have mouse support?

Something I would love to see and heard months back it might support, b

Unlikely. The iPad Pro will run the same iOS as any other current iPad wich do not support mice.

If you need a mouse, then you should be looking for a MacBook, not an iPad.

Oh yeah I have a Mac, iPhone, Apple TV LOL

Just would love to see support in the future on the iPad for mouse since it nicely supports the keyboard now.

iPads have supported keyboards since the original iPad.

The iPad has always supported the Keyboard since it a logical way to enter text. But Mice have never been in Apple's design scheme for iPads.

There is no mouse pointer to control, and all interactions in apps, and the Os itself are designed for touch.  iOS would need to be re-designed for the Mouse to make functional sense.

i.e a mouse interaction, pointers, and tracking mouse location on screen. It may seem simple to add mice, but for a device that has was conceived, created and designed from the get go to be touch based, the Mouse does not make sense, and would require a fundamental redesign of the interface.

Simply put, the iPad is not a device that has ever been intended to be used with a mouse, and its very unlikely it will ever be.

I use databases and would like it if iPad Pro would support a mouse.  Being a touch only device makes it hard for resizing and other quick design techniques I'm used to on a desktop. A mouse, in this instance, would suit for this purpose. After all, it is meant to be a versatile device.

Although I don't have any jailbroken devices, I have seen the mouse feature unlocked through that method. You can't tell me that iOS would have to be altered when the ability is already there.

I think perhaps you don't understand what jailbreaking is. It doesn't mean unlocking things that are already there. It means unlocking the security that Apple put in place that prevents changes to the OS. Once the security is removed, people change the OS. So yes, iOS would need to be changed.

Hi,

Android was also  built at first sight for touch support only, but Bluetooth mice are supported, it does not disrupt any existing OS design or touch behavior at all, both are available simultaneously, the only thing it adds is a 'visual pointer', that is used to point and click, as you do with your finger, your finger is your pointer.

But where mouse support is a big 'advantage', is when you need to connect to a Windows Remote Desktop (RDP), let say in fullscreen, without mouse you just cannot do it efficiently, with any of the existing RDP client apps from appstore.

So if iOS10 include Bluetooth mouse support, I would definitively be able to use my iPad as a PC replacement, either to access remotely my Home PC or my Office PC.

Best,

Kristo.

If someone needs a mouse for their iPad Pro (got mine this morning), then he/she is doing something wrong. LOL

The display is huge and touch operation should be very easy, no matter the task.

There are RDP clients available which "translate" the touch operation into mouse movement, so no big deal here.

Take your pick, there are dozens of them in the app store.

I'm well aware of why people who want the support want it. I'm not one of them, though. I think it unlikely that Apple will ever implement it but that's just my opinion. Submit your feedback requesting the feature to Apple here:

I agree! Add Bluetooth mouse support Apple! It's not Pro without it. And right now, iPad pro and keyboard cover are like a Windows laptop with touch screen that you used to say is stupid.

Apple have brought out a pencil. Now add mouse support!

There is a simple solution. If you want to use a mouse, get a Surface Pro.

This is not the only thing the Pro needs, it needs to run OSX, at least Microsoft got that much right.

currently OS X is not as finger friendly though
