Bought 2nd hand MacBook

Just recently bought my daughter a second hand MacBook. We had to do a factory reset because the MacBook was wanting a password to download and install Silverlight so she could watch Netflix. I kept getting an error code after trying to reinstall the software. After some research I discovered I would have to buy the software rights. Which I did. Got my email and with my code early this afternoon. How do I get to the software to download it? Can I download it to a flash drive or do I have to burn it to DVD-R?  Remember I can't get to it via the MacBook. Help please!!!
