How can I get Snow Leopard on my MBP mid
I'm currently rocking a 13" mid-2012 MacBook Pro unibody (not the retina kind) (does have a DVD slot), and running OS X el capitan 10.11.6. I desperately want to work/play in Snow Leopard, especially the iLife versions of GarageBand, iPhoto, and iMovie again (while also enjoying the much more appealing icons and graphics of that operating system, I must add). So I was googling around and saw that alot of musicians/artists get what they need by running multiple systems on their laptops, via additional/external hard drives. So I started preparing my own system to welcome back Snow Leopard and boy was I excited at the prospect of really enjoying my time on my laptop again.
So I used Disk Utility to prep/format an external 1Tb drive and that's also where I put a (theoretically) bootable Snow Leopard. All was going smoothly, but when I restarted my laptop (to install Snow Leopard after it was done verifying and all), I got a slew of DOS-type lines going across the screen with a message saying hold down the power button to turn off and then press the power button again to continue. So I did and then after that I got an error message saying:
You can't use this version of the application ‘Install Mac OS X.app’
with this version of OS X.
You have Install Mac OS X.app 23.1.
Googling around, I saw there were quite a few other people having this same issue (as well as preferring Snow Leopard/hating on Yosemite and El Cap, btw). There were a few responses to these posts with suggestions that didn’t resolve anything for me and then some saying the mid-2012 may not even be able to load Snow Leopard(!?!?)
Does anyone know for sure if I can somehow get Snow Leopard going on on this laptop? Please tell me there’s a way to make this happen!?! I’ve got THE WILL, so there must be some way…? If not the way I tried, maybe with Parallels or Boot Camp or something like that?
Thank you in advance for any help you can lend my way!
Unfortunately there is not. With few exceptions, Macs cannot run an OS X version older than what they originally shipped with. The latest that can run Snow Leopard would be a Late 2011 MacBook Pro.
You can’t install an OS that came out earlier than the computer itself.
The only way that will work on that Mac model is to use Mac OS X Server 10.6 in emulation. If needed, phone the online Apple Store and order a copy of it.

That is not correct. Late 2011 MacBooks came with OS X Lion pre-installed (I had one).
No Mac will run an OS previous to the one it originally shipped with.

Yes it is. It did come with Lion but was able to install Snow Leopard. That was one of the exceptions I mentioned.
