LG DVD drive (GP60NS50) not being recognized by...

Hello,

I just bought a new LG Slim Portable DVD Drive for my 2016 MacBook Pro. I purchased a USB C convertor cable for it. I plugged it in and nothing happens. No icon on the desktop, nor am I seeing it using Disk Utility. I AM able to "see" it in the Apple Menu > About This Mac > Storage tab.

I've tried plugging and unplugging in all the different USB ports, started and re-started with the drive connected and not connected. I went to the website and there doesn't appear to even be a Mac driver to download. I also made sure to have the MacBook's power cord is connected and powering the computer this whole time.

Help! Any ideas?
