how to pair a remote with MacBook pro OS10.12.5?

I would like to pair this computer with a remote "clicker" so that I can forward the "slides" in my Microsoft powerpoint presentations.

How do I do this now??

Best regards,

Leslie

I have already contacted the ecology dept. an they seem to know how to do this.

Hi,

Get an Apple Remote and it will work with your Mac's built in infrared receiver: Apple Remote - Apple

tjk,

Current Apple remotes only show compatibility with Apple TV. Per the MacTracker database, IR sensors disappeared from the MacBook Pros with the Late 2012 Retina models.

Not true.

The OP's machine info shows a 2009 13" MBP, which does in fact have an infrared receiver.

Allan's post does bring up a question. Your machine info shows a 13-inch Mid 2009 MBP, but that machine cannot run 10.12.5, so one of those is wrong. Exactly which MacBook Pro do you have? https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201300
