Is it impossible to download a Sierra installer?

Earlier OS installers (e.g., El Capitan) appear under Purchased in the App Store but not Sierra. Is Apple making it impossible to reinstall Sierra? It seems weird that Apple would permit me to install High Sierra, El Capitan and predecessors, but won't let me reinstall Sierra. Am I missing something?

Thanks.

(PS: Please don't respond by asking why I want to reinstall Sierra; that's not the issue.)

Sierra is no longer available.

No longer available, period? Not downloadable at all? Just seems crazy that I can download any of the last half dozen OS installers except Sierra. But if that's what Apple has chosen to do, I guess maybe I'm just out of luck.

Absolutely not available after High Sierra was released. Not even in Purchased, if you downloaded it previously.

That's correct. It is no longer available. Older versions remain available because there are systems out there that are incapable of running the newer versions. In the case of Sierra / High Sierra, the hardware requirements are exactly the same. Any system capable of running Sierra is capable of running High Sierra so there is no real need to continue providing Sierra. There is no negative impact on performance running HS instead of S. The vast majority of the changes are under the hood and the vast majority of applications have no compatibility issues with HS.
