Does iPad support H264 interlaced playback?

Is there any way to play interlaced h264 on iPad/iPhone without transoding to progressive?

Hi Diavonex

Thanks for quick response. It doesn't help in my usecase as I have HLS server hosting interlaced contents and want to play them locally on iPAD.

Thanks

Suneel

It does now in Photos on iOS 9 but it's very slow. You have to wait a while for the iPad to process (I'm guessing conversion to progressive) each VDO before it can play. I'd personally just convert them all to progressive if the primary viewing device is iPad / iPhone.

So the answer to the question as originally phrased, then, is "no".
