Location Reporting in Android 2.3 & lower
Location Reporting lets Google store and use your device's most recent location data and activities (like driving, walking, and biking), in connection with your Google Account.
How often Location Reporting updates your location data varies. It's based on things like your device's battery life, whether you're moving, and how fast you're moving. Location Reporting uses only mobile ID or Wi-Fi location detection, depending on your device. If Location Reporting isn't available in your region, it's automatically turned off.
IMPORTANT: Location Reporting can use a lot of data. We recommend checking your data plan before turning on Location Reporting.
Note: Location Reporting is available only on devices running Android 2.3. Learn about location for devices running Android 4.1 through 4.3 or Android 4.4 and up.
